Now to news from Roco

From Roco comes the new innovation of chuffing smoke and steam – the streamlined class 10 – “The Black Swan”.

Just the “chuffing” sound, digitally synchronised with the loco speed, has been around for around ten years now, so the Roco innovation team have come up with the next development on the digital theme...

< The latest autumn / winter catalogue

model no: 62191

The “chuffs” of exhaust from the funnel and steam exhausts from the cylinders are synchronised with the speed!

The design sketch above shows the smoke generator below the funnel, with a motor driven fan to blow the steam exhausts from the funnel and cylinders.

The fan motor speed is directly co-ordinated with the drive motor and “Plux 22” decoder, both mounted in the tender with the sound on board loudspeaker above. Thus when all four components act in unison, the realism of the steam engine is brought to life in miniature.

The smoke fuel is the standard “Seuthe” smoke fluid obtainable from dealers, and the large tank hidden inside the boiler allows about ten minutes running before refill. Refilling is via the valve in the steam dome atop the boiler.

Due for release in early 2011, the class 10 steam engine, incorporates the latest technology to give you realistic chuffing steam, together with the realistic sounds as the loco runs around your layout! Not only that, but the loco lights (cab, front & rear) can be digitally turned on or off, as well as the inspection lighting under the skirting of the chassis!
